The Nintendo Switch™ 2 and Nintendo Switch™ versions of Digimon Story: Time Stranger launched on July 9 in Japan (July 8 in North America). To mark the release, Bandai Namco Entertainment has published a “live-action launch trailer” that follows characters encountering Digimon and going on an adventure in the real-world Shinjuku district.

The live-action launch trailer is available to watch on YouTube. Alongside the release, a giveaway campaign offering a large-sized blanket is running on the official “Digimon Game” X account, with entries accepted through 23:59 JST on July 15 in Japan (July 14 in North America).

Free demo and DLC rollout

A free demo covering the early portion of the main story is currently available across all platforms, including Nintendo Switch™ 2 and Nintendo Switch™. Save data from the demo can be carried over to the full game. After clearing the demo, players can access “Central Town: Adventure Trial,” though progress in that mode cannot be transferred to the full version.

In addition, the paid DLC “Additional Digimon & Episode Packs 1–3” will roll out in stages over the three weeks following launch. A “Season Pass” bundling all three packs at a discount is also currently on sale.

About the game

Digimon Story: Time Stranger is a raising RPG that lets players collect and train more than 450 Digimon. It is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, STEAM, Nintendo Switch™ 2, and Nintendo Switch™. The story is set in Japan, in Tokyo. The protagonist, an agent of a secret organization, encounters the unknown creatures known as Digimon while investigating Shinjuku, gets caught up in a mysterious explosion, and awakens to find the world has been pushed back eight years. Rights are credited as “©Akiyoshi Hongo/Toei Animation ©Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc.,” and the game carries a CERO C rating.

As the newest entry in the Digimon Story series, the game continues the franchise’s focus on adventures spanning the human world and another dimension, along with the collection and raising of numerous Digimon.
